Fertilization & weed control
Fed on schedule, and weeds handled before they take over
A lawn that looks good in July was fed correctly in April. We work on a seasonal schedule rather than showing up when a lawn already looks rough — feeding through the growing season so the turf stays dense, and treating broadleaf weeds while they’re small enough to deal with.
Thick turf is its own weed control. Most of what we do is aimed at getting the grass dense enough that weeds run out of room, rather than chasing them one at a time all summer.

Rather than quoting every visit separately, most customers enroll in a program and we handle the schedule for the season. Pricing depends on the size of the lawn and the property — every quote is measured rather than picked off a list.

Two ways to get grass growing
Which one you need comes down to a single question: is there already a lawn there? We seed through the spring and through the fall — call and we’ll tell you which window suits your property.

Seed, mulch and tackifier sprayed on in one pass. The green you see on day one is the mulch — it holds moisture against the seed and keeps it from washing off a slope before it germinates.

Seed cut directly into the soil through the existing turf, so it lands where it can actually germinate instead of sitting on the surface. This is what interseeding and overseeding a tired lawn actually involves.

Soil prep & renovation
The work underneath the lawn
Seed only does what the ground underneath it allows. Before any seeding we deal with what’s actually there — grading and leveling, breaking up compacted ground, and preparing a seedbed that new grass can root into.
For a lawn that’s too far gone to rescue, that means resetting it and starting again properly. For a new build or a bare site, it means taking it from raw ground all the way to established turf.

Tree trimming
Pruning that leaves the tree better than it found it
Clearance away from roofs, drives and power lines. Deadwood out of the canopy before it comes down on its own. Thinning where a tree has grown too dense, and structural pruning on young trees so they grow into a shape that lasts.
Most storm damage we clean up started as a limb somebody meant to deal with. Taking weight off the right branches now is considerably cheaper than the alternative.

Tree removal & stump grinding
Taken down cleanly, and the stump with it
Some trees are dead, some are failing, and some are simply in the wrong place. We take them down, haul the brush off and leave the site clean — the part our customers mention most often without being asked.
The stump doesn’t have to stay either. Stump grinding is available as part of a removal, so you’re left with ground you can seed rather than something to mow around for the next decade.

What decides the method is access — whether a truck can get to the tree, and what’s underneath it. That’s where the lift and the crane come in.
EAB & tree health
Emerald ash borer, and the trees worth protecting
Emerald ash borer has moved through Iowa, and an untreated ash is on a countdown. By the time thinning at the top of the canopy is obvious from the ground, a great deal of damage has already been done — which is why the decision is worth making before symptoms show.
We treat by trunk injection, repeated on a two-year cycle. It goes into the tree rather than onto it, and one appointment covers the tree for two seasons.

Tight-access work
Reaching the trees other crews have to turn down
A great deal of the tree work worth doing in an established North Iowa town is behind the house — over a garage, past a fence, in a back yard with no route for a truck. Conventional large equipment may not be practical on those properties at all.
Our tracked lift travels where a truck can’t be positioned, which means the work gets done from the lift rather than by climbing, and far less material has to be dragged across the yard to get out.

Crane-assisted removal
Lifted out over the house, not dropped past it
When a tree is too close to a house to drop, the answer is to take it apart from the top and lift each section out. Sections are rigged and lifted clear over a roof, a garage or a fence rather than dropped beside them or dragged across the lawn to get out.
On a tight town lot that’s often the difference between a job that can be done and one that can’t. It also means the crew spends less time working directly over the things you’d rather they weren’t.
